Imagination Quilt Crochet Along
The Imagination Quilt is a crochet patchwork blanket inspired by the book Anne of Green Gables by L. M. Montgomery. Each of the 16 quilt blocks is inspired by a character from the book. We will be working through the pattern together in a Crochet Along (CAL) starting 1st December.
The CAL includes:
- A detailed written pattern with step-by-step photo tutorials (releasing 29th November on my website, Etsy, and Ravelry).
-
Supporting video tutorial included with your pattern purchase.
-
A friendly Facebook group to share your progress, ask questions, and cheer each other on. There will also be a giveaway running for group members participating in the CAL.

Behind the Design
“I think some kinds of sewing would be nice; but there’s no scope for imagination in patchwork.” Anne of Green Gables by L. M. Montgomery
---
The Imagination Quilt started as an idea between two friends - myself and Jess, the dyer behind Skein and the Stitch. Jess reached out to me asking to collaborate on a crochet design using her Anne of Green Gables advent. After we visited a textiles show together in late 2024 and saw some beautiful quilts, we decided I would do a patchwork quilt inspired blanket instead. It felt like the perfect fit for an Anne of Green Gables design. Watch this video to find out more about yarn advents and the story behind the design.
How to Join
Joining is easy — there's no sign-up. All you need to do is:
-
Decide on what yarn you want to use. The pattern is designed for both fingering weight and DK weight yarn advents, but can be adapted to commercial yarns as well. I have included the meterage requirements in the image.
- The preorder for the Anne of Green Gables advent has now closed. Jess will have some spares available to those on her mailing list and will be dyeing up kits in early 2026. Join her mailing list here.
- The pattern pairs an advent with 4 skeins of undyed yarn that can be purchased here.
- I have also developed an alternative colour palette in Drops Safran that is available to purchase here.
- I do not earn commission from sales through the links above.
- For the fingering weight version you need a 2.75mm hook and for DK you need a 3.5mm hook. The DK yarn is on the lighter side of DK close to a sport weight hence the 3.5mm hook.
-
Download the pattern from your preferred platform once it releases on 29th November. If you ordered the yarn advent from Jess then you will find a code included with your advent to claim the pattern for free on Ravelry. For everyone else the pattern will be ~£6.50+VAT.
